Solid foundations

Pitching a start-up is an essential skill for anyone working on the project. Whether you are presenting to 1 or 1,000 people, here are some questions to ask yourself in order to lay a solid foundation for your pitch:

  • What are your values? What impact do you want to have?
  • Why did you get started? What drives you?
  • What kind of problem are you solving for your customers?
  • How do you solve it?
  • What is your long-term vision?

Selective sorting

To find the answers to these questions, we advise you to brainstorm the potential answers, without filters. You can then focus on those that have the most impact. Indeed, it is essential to first strengthen the substance of your speech before putting it into shape.

Once upon a time

Once you’ve found your essential answers, you can start building your pitch by adding an angle to your storytelling, some emotion and a common thread. For this, we advise you to get inspired from Anglo-Saxon techniques on storytelling, and especially the one on archetypes of a story. One top tip: your start-up is not the hero of the story, but the adjuvant for your customers.

Polish your pitch… over and over again

That’s it you have the first draft of your pitch! Now you must repeat it, a hundred times, alone and in public, in order to constantly find improvements. Trust us, a pitch is only good when it is well rehearsed. However, be careful to keep it spontaneous. How? Think about what drives you in this project. Your passion will be transcribed in your tone of voice and allow your story to live and inspire.
